Hey!
I'm Izzy Powell
Welcome, welcome! I hope you like dogs and horses, otherwise this whole website might be a jump scare...
I'm the owner, photographer, trainer, and expert "who wants a cookie?" suggester for Powell Creative. I grew up riding, training, and showing horses & dogs. My mother would always say, "you didn't grow up in a barn" but I did my best to prove that incorrect. Naturally, in middle school I had the idea of capturing the animals I loved the most. This is where my passion for photography and animals intertwined. I started Powell Creative in the fall of 2023 and have never looked back! I have traveled all across the country for photography, but my soul is happiest capturing the beauty of the PNW and the animals who enjoy it!
My work has been displayed in multiple publications and galleries, including the Seattle Art Museum.
If I'm not at a dog event (which is rarely), you can find me hiking or working dogs, possibly with bubble tea in hand.
I currently live on a sheep farm on Bainbridge Island with my two herding dogs and Tanner my husband. Read more about the team below!

Chocolate was the first dog I ever photographed, competed with, and fell in love with. I picked up my dad's old camera, because I wanted to capture her during agility. She put up with my countless new ideas, poses, and getting my settings right. She was patient with my antics & enthusiasm. She is the reason Powell Creative exists.

Zest is my 4yr Swedish Vallhund. Her registered name is "KN Have Fun In Life" and boy, does she make sure we do! She brings so much laugher everything she does. We train in a variety of sports including; conformation, obedience, rally, agility and are just getting into herding and scent sports! She loves exploring new places and being on the oversight committee before galleries are sent out!

Roscoe is my 10yr Border Collie. He was my first dog I got with the intention of competing in sports with. He has done everything I've asked of him and made my dreams come true. He is my "do anything" dog when it comes to photography or dog sports. He becomes part of a creative vision and has the skills to make anything come to life! He loves helping location scout, swimming, and getting as muddy as possible.
My PHILOSOPHY
I'm first and foremost a dog & horse lover, and secondly a photographer. I think there's a huge difference in work, if you fall in love with your subject. My training background has brought "the art of noticing" to the forefront of my philosophy. The smallest of details are what is important when we think about our beloved pets. It's my job to notice the connection you and your pet share, because each one is unique. Being able to cherish those moments/details is why I love photographing pets.
